How CurrentStrike uses your information
This page describes the current iPhone app and hosted API. It is not advertising tracking. Rankings are not a guaranteed catch.
Who we are
CurrentStrike is an operator-run fishing-intelligence proof of concept. Questions and account requests go through TestFlight feedback or the in-app Settings screen.
What the app collects
- Account. Google or Apple sign-in through Amazon Cognito provides an email and a stable user id. CurrentStrike stores a profile (display name, optional home state, role, and account status).
- Location. Optional. Used only after you allow it, to rank nearby waters. You can type a location instead. Location is not sold and is not used for ads.
- Trip logs. If you submit a trip, CurrentStrike stores the structured fields you enter (water, species, outcome, optional lure/color/depth) so a moderator can review them.
- Product diagnostics. The app may send a random install id, build number, and event names (for example sign-in result codes) to a private log bucket. Tokens, passwords, and raw emails are not supposed to be included.
What CurrentStrike does not do
- No advertising SDK and no tracking across other companies’ apps.
- No Facebook scrape. Group posts are not collected unless an operator pastes a permitted source and a reviewer accepts it.
- No sale of personal information.
Environmental data
Weather, buoy, gauge, and forecast readings come from public agencies (including NWS and NOAA) and are stored so the app can rank waters without calling those agencies from your phone. Those readings are not your personal data.
Account deletion
In Settings, choose Delete account. That removes your CurrentStrike profile and your trip logs. Official observations and other people’s reports stay. Signing in again can create a new CurrentStrike profile. To also remove the Google or Apple login itself, use that provider’s account tools.
Retention
Diagnostic events are written to a private bucket with short operational retention. Profile and trip records stay until you delete the account or an operator removes them.
Children
CurrentStrike is not directed at children under 13 and is not a Made for Kids product.
